We feel proud to be an Indian but does India feel proud of us?

Surely this is the question that needs to be addressed in current scenario. We all very proudly say that “we proud to be an Indian” but never ask ourselves that “do our nation too proud of us”? It is not to say that a patriotic song or a video clip of our freedom struggle leads to goose bumps in our body, we can’t accept a statement against our nation, we can’t accept any disrespect of our national flag, any recognition of our nation on the world stage definitely lets all of us happy. But is it all what our country is asking for today? No. Have you thought why the breed of patriots stopped taking birth in our nation post 1947? Why the word “patriotism” always go in reference to the freedom fighters only and not for their successors? It is because our freedom fighters gave all to the nation what it was asking for at that point of time but we are not. Hence calling them patriots is more than justified. But had the nation stopped asking from us after independence? No again. Its not that post independence we became prosperous. Burning problems were still there questioning our sustainable development but we heard it less than required.
Today we have to accept that we all have become self-centric. What we are aspiring is all personal success in life. We go to leading institutes, study and got placed then waiting for chances to go abroad and leave this nation that has given everything to us. We study hard to crack the UPSC exams to become IAS/IPS officers and become one, only to earn status and power in society while prolonging the ill system that we are in. We join the Government service only to have secured sleeps at nights and comforts in days leaving the nation at its own destiny. We do enter the world of business dreaming the bungalows, big cars, bank balance, etc even though it would come on the cost of illegitimacies. We become politicians to lead the nation to the level of prosperity that our freedom fighters had eyed while dying for the nation but we are leading it to a living hell. Here I am not saying that we all are like this but certainly the percentage is more than higher. So one thing that we have to conclude here that for what the nation is in right now, we all are responsible.
I just want to bring attention that don’t the nation want anything in return for what it is giving to all of us? Why not the leading professionals are taking the charge to contribute to this nation rather than going abroad to earn huge salaries? Why not the IAS/IPS officers are standing tall on their proven talent to protect the system from all the illness rather than just becoming the symptoms of its illness? Why not the government servants pledge to serve the citizens whole-heartedly rather than enjoying the hierarchical structures and inventing all new ideas to encash the loopholes of their organizations? Why not the businessmen use their super veins of mind to create an environment of faith and responsibility towards the society rather than just using their minds in all foul plays? Why the politicians are not leading the nation to ensure free and fair games in the societies rather than becoming themselves the captain of all pre-fixed games.
We all very easily list out the problems of this nation and the wrong doers but always forget to measure out direct or indirect contribution to it. The hour is crying for solution to this nation’s prolonged problems and we cannot afford to be self centric anymore. We have to come out of that blanket of personal successes and must presume nation’s call before making any career/personal decisions. Today we are celebrating 67th Independence Day but only viewing the nation through painted glasses which shows only the image of viewer. Now what we need is to rub the glass and see the whole nation through it then only the nation will also be proud of us.

Jai hind!!!
